The Beneficial Ownership Act, which established the Isle of Man’s Database of Beneficial Ownership, has been in force since 2017 – beneficial ownership is a well-established and widely understood concept on the Isle of Man.
However, there have recently been a number of significant changes to the beneficial ownership framework on the Island, including the:
· Beneficial Ownership Act 2017 (Amendment) Order 2026; and the
· Beneficial Ownership Information Regulations 2026.
The two orders amend the requirements under the Beneficial Ownership Act 2017.
Reflecting the legislative changes, the Authority has published the Beneficial Ownership Act 2017 Guidance April 2026 (the “2026 Guidance”). The Beneficial Ownership Act 2017 Guidance December 2024 (the “2024 Guidance”) is now revoked.
This seminar will outline the changes to the requirements around identifying and submitting registrable beneficial ownership information, using the 2026 Guidance as a tool to illustrate the changes.
