The new world order: power, technology and the forces reshaping geopolitics

Upper Hall Loch Promenade Church

Join us at our DQ sponsored event with our guest speaker Scott Livingston, International Geopolitical Advisor, NatWest Group (incl RBSI, Isle of Man Bank, NatWest International and Coutts).

Overview of how four mega-dynamics are shaping today’s geopolitics: state power shifting from the West to the East, climate change and adaptation, demographic imbalances, and technological revolutions.

Impact of America’s new strategic outlook

Consequences for Europe and the UK

Q&A to discuss specific geopolitical hotspots, risks, and opportunities.

Scott joined NatWest in 2021 as the bank’s International Advisor after 24 years’ service in the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office and, prior to that, a dozen years as a Royal Marines officer.  His service was shaped by global security issues, especially post-9/11, including terrorism, cyber, failed states, and hostile state actors.  Between multiple postings to Asia, Scott also served in Madrid and held senior leadership appointments in London.  Scott’s contribution was recognised by the award of an MBE for gallantry in Northern Ireland in 1995, followed by an OBE in 2001 and CMG in 2021 for services to British diplomacy.
